Foreign medical expenses soon to be covered
Tuesday 22, November, 2005 We would definitely go out of way to increase the longevity of our beloved ones, if it is in our hands, isn?t it? At such times even the heavy medical expenses involved becomes secondary. Some health problems might involve a second opinion of the doctors situated across the globe. Keeping this view in mind, the Indian insurers are looking into the option of bringing in polices that will cover the charges incurred in overseas medical expenses. Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company has already taken this initiative. It has introduced an insurance product with a rider known as the ?e-Opinion rider?. This rider will cover the second opinion expenses incurred from the doctors in abroad. It is termed as ?e-consultation services? for serious illness. As of now there is no separate policy that totally focuses on the medical expenses incurred in foreign treatment. There are strong chances that it might take off in India, as there has been a constant demand from the high net worth individuals who wish to get medical treatment in abroad.
